제품에 결함이 발견되면 사업자가 스스로 거두어들이거나, 정부가 거두라고 권고 또는 명령합니다. 근거는 소비자기본법과 제품안전기본법에 있습니다.
소비자기본법 제48조는 사업자가 결함을 알게 되면 스스로 수거·파기하도록 하고, 제49조와 제50조는 중앙행정기관이 수거를 권고하거나 명령할 수 있게 합니다. 공산품은 제품안전기본법 제10조·제11조가 같은 역할을 합니다.
그래서 리콜에는 세 종류가 있습니다. 자진 리콜은 회사가 먼저 나선 것, 리콜 권고는 정부가 권한 것, 리콜 명령은 정부가 강제한 것입니다. 명령으로 갈수록 위험이 크다고 보시면 됩니다.

01이름이 아니라 종류로 봅니다 — 리콜 발표는 모델명 단위로 나오지만, 우리가 그걸 다 외울 순 없습니다. 그래서 "우리 아이 물건", "부엌" 같은 생활 단위로 묶어 확인합니다
02새로 나온 것만 봅니다 — 이미 확인한 발표는 다시 띄우지 않습니다. 매번 처음부터 훑을 필요가 없습니다
03모델명은 직접 확인하세요 — 종류가 같아도 내 물건이 대상인지는 제품 바닥이나 뒷면 라벨의 모델명·제조일자로 맞춰봐야 합니다
04등록해도 저장되지 않습니다 — 고른 분류는 이 브라우저에만 남습니다. 회원가입도 연락처도 필요 없습니다

- 내 물건이 안 나오면
- 발표된 리콜이 없다는 뜻입니다. 안전하다는 보증은 아닙니다. 발표는 계속 추가되므로 알림을 걸어두시는 편이 낫습니다.
- 오래된 발표도 나오나
- 나옵니다. 리콜에는 기한이 없습니다. 몇 년 전 발표라도 그 제품을 아직 쓰고 있다면 대상입니다.
- 대상인 걸 알았다면
- 먼저 사용을 멈추세요. 그다음 발표에 적힌 제조사 고객센터로 연락합니다. 영수증이나 상자가 없어도 대부분 처리됩니다.
